As Patrick Moore, GreenPeace co-founder said.

One of the best ways to address climate change is to use more wood, not less. Wood is simply the most abundant, biodegradable and reusable material on the planet.

Firewood industry standards

The commercial firewood industry needs a strong association behind it as firewood is not widely recognised as a Renewable, carbon friendly energy source which out of all energy sources at our disposal, cases show it is the most environmentally friendly. So, in 2005 the Firewood Association of Australia (FAA) was established. The FAA representation was highlighted during the development of the government’s Voluntary code of Practice for Firewood Suppliers. The FAA is a non-profit organisation and is accepted by the Natural Resources Management Ministerial Council. FAA and government policy ensure that suppliers are harvesting firewood to improve the long-term future of the industry and the environment.
Hills Heat FAA

Our firewood

Hills Heat is one of the earliest members of the FAA with member number 008 so with having FAA certification we can assure our Firewood is sourced in a positive effort towards the environment and in a sustainable process.

Our Firewood is self-sustainably grown in several floodplains forming forests in western New South Wales.

With natural and controlled flooding, the renewable source of energy regenerates self-sustainably within an 8 -10-year cycle and unlike fossil fuels, firewood is easily replenished with little environmental impacts.
Our suppliers and their strict daily procedures that are upheld by the state forest legislations and their latest technologies are working together to ensure the regulations are being met.
Our suppliers are actively managing our natural forests in growing to their full potential through forest thinning, by doing so they are preventing the forest from naturally dying off by removing the underprivileged trees. In this process it also provides a healthier environment for the forest habitat, giving it an opportunity to flourish. The suppliers are doing what nature does only emphasizing on vital light, nutrients and living space that the forest and biodiversity of the forest relies on.

“One of the best ways to address climate change is to use more wood, not less. Wood is simply the most abundant, biodegradable, and reusable material on the planet.”

Our firewood is a powerful heating source as well as having a powerful impact on tackling the world’s threat to climate change, which then has a positive effect on the environment. So, when using Hills Heats sustainable firewood to heat your home you can bask in the warm ambience knowing you’re not heating our environment.
